Some knitting history

Posted on December 20, 2022February 1, 2023 by Barbara W. Klaser

Just a quick share after viewing this interesting video from Roxanne Richardson, covering Weldon’s Practical Needlework, and discussing the difference between socks and stockings. A trip into knitting history.

I also found this fascinating in relation to my reading and writing of historical fiction. While I had a vague idea of what is meant by stockings versus socks, it helps to have a more definite idea, and in a way cements my image of what’s going on in a story when stockings are mentioned.
